“The Long Road to an HIV Vaccine: A Personal Journey,” José Esparza, MD, PhD an internationally recognized expert on HIV/AIDS, vaccine development and global health will deliver the second in the Voices from the Vanguard series.His lecture will cover his work before HIV and how previous experiences shaped his eventual drift to his main professional objective of facilitating the development of an HIV vaccine for global health.The Global Diseases: Voices from the Vanguard lecture series is a joint effort of Patricia Thomas, Knight Chair in Health and Medical Journalism at the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication and Dan Colley, professor of microbiology and director of UGA's Center for Tropical and Emerging Global Diseases.Additional lectures in the series are March 18 and April 8.
