CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association is now defending itself against an IRS complaint.

A Wisconsin group said the association promoted politics with its “Vote Biblical Values” ad campaign.

But the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association said it did not violate its tax exempt status because it made sure not to single out a candidate or party.

On Tuesday, Graham sent the following message to his followers:

“Now with the votes counted, it is important to remember that whether we are personally pleased with the outcome or not, God wants us to pray for those chosen to be our leaders.”
